Flow State - Iasos
Flow State recommends instrumental albums every weekday to soundtrack deep focus. To support our work and unlock extra features, become a subscriber: Good morning. We’re off on Monday. Today we’re listening to and remembering Iasos, a Greek-American new age music composer. We’ve recommended him twice before. “Along with Steven Halpern, Iasos basically invented new age music,” wrote Douglas Mcgowan of Numero Group on Instagram. Iasos started playing piano at age eight, studied cultural anthropology at Cornell, and then moved to California.¹ He heard music which he reckoned to be transmissions from another spiritual plane. In 1975 he released his debut LP, Inter-Dimensional Music, which ushered in new age music. We’re also playing his 1989 LP, Essence of Spring, an uplifting collection of major key synth tones and rushing water. Last Saturday Iasos passed away at the age of 77. Inter-Dimensional Music - Iasos (60m, basically no vocals) Essence of Spring - Iasos (60m, laughter on track 2) Have a transcendent Thursday. |
