💸 Why not buy this Math blog doing 1M page views a month?
Nano Thought Thinking about check sizes and capital raising recently, and wanted to share some thoughts with you all about this. Raising capital...can be about raising $50k, it doesn't mean you have to raise millions! Many angel investors are writing $5k checks, and if you learn how to structure a capital stack correctly. You can come at a deal that is selling for $100k, and bring only $10k of your own money in. Maybe you take 3 investors at $10k each, and you have your own $10k. Now youre at $40k I have a revolving line of credit right now at .5% a month interest. Thats 6% a year, that I can use for whatever I like, Im QUITE sure many of you could have the same Lets say you take $30k from that, now we are at $70k. Maybe you ask the seller to finance 20% of it for you, this keeps them aligned with the handoff and making sure the business can grow. Now youre at $90k And maybe you offer to let them keep 10% of the company, so that they can participate in the massive upside when you eventually exit the business or dividend out some profits. Now you've come up with all $100k! Here is a recent infographic from Carta that shows how small checks often can fill out early rounds, you also end up with tons of evangelists for your business that can introduce you to future investors as well!
