Hi there,
The power of The DO Lectures is the community. - Not one speaker. - Not one course. - Not one event. The question I get asked MORE THAN ANY OTHER is this: How can we stay in touch? This is a first step toward bringing the community together in a safe place. Know this: It will not be perfect. There will be learning. But the first step will have been taken. If you join today, you will be a Beta tester. And you will help us build a membership that is purpose-built for our community. We have a year to get it right. Eek. As a reward for your ideas and insights, you will pay a discounted price to when we launch in April 2025. But you will always pay the Beta price. Know this: No one will ever pay less than you. You will have shaped this. And that will not be forgotten. Beta testers have perks. It will be first come, first served. Shall we?

1. Introduction.
Community on the internet has come to rely on ad hoc chance meetings. - It has become platform specific. - It has become interest specific. - Chance meetings are often decided by a fickle algorithm. While this works well enough, they still rely on serendipity and a little luck. In short, finding your like-minded is far from easy. But when you zoom out, The DO Lectures has helped us all find our tribe, but it is blinking hard to stay in touch.
The community comes together, and then it disperses like a dandelion seed head in the wind. What is needed is a simple, trusted way to stay in touch. If we are the encouragement network, where founders help founders, where artists help artists, and where mavericks help mavericks.
We need to find a watering hole where we come together and multiply the serendipity. We share our insights. We are honest with our struggles. We learn to ask a different question. The wisdom of the crowd needs one important thing: A place for the crowd to gather. If the crowd forms to help each other, great things can happen. - Optimism wins. - Kindness wins. - Curiosity wins. “For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.”

2. Community.
We need a way to gather with people who inspire us, make us braver, and get us to ask counter-intuitive questions.
Yes, in some ways the digital world has made us more connected, and yet, if we are honest, lonelier, and not always happier. For our purposes, we won’t solve the imperfections of digital platforms. But we can provide a safe space for founders to help founders.
And, importantly, cross-pollinate with each other and take ideas from different industries to yours. - The platform helps us gather.
- The magic is the people. - People provide the soul. OK. Let’s accept that digital gatherings are not perfect. They will never be. ‘In real life’ will always be preferred. No hugs, no community. The reason I have held back on building a community-specific platform, is I never thought it was perfect. I did the same with the heating system in our house. I was looking for the perfect system so our kids grew up without heating. Brrr. Then, one day, Clare found something that would work. It wasn’t perfect. But it was warm.

3. Conclusion.
We are starting The DO Membership for the like-minded. - It will come together to help each other.
- If it is to be successful, I would hope it can be a place where non-obvious thinking is given some breathing space.
- Where you can be honest about where you are and, at the exact same moment, where you want to be. The values that bring us together, like optimism, kindness and curiosity, will bind us together. It won’t be perfect. But it will be where we feel we belong.

What's the timeline?
As soon as everyone has signed and we have everyone's number. We will start talking to each other. - Your WhatsApp community awaits. - Your specific interests will be known. - It will start to bubble. Our first question to everyone will be this. What do people want and need from this community? Then, we will start to build different prototypes. And then test, iterate, etc. But know this: You will be able to chat with each from the get-go. From the start, you will have told us your area of interest, and so we will curate a lesson each month for you.
This lesson is yours for life.
So, no stress about having to watch it straight away. You can have up to two areas of interest.
Pick your area of interest.
1. Entrepreneurship.
2. Mindset.
3. Writing.
4. Newsletters.
5. Events.

Is this right for you?
The DO Membership will be an investment of time and money.
It will make sense money-wise if you are a regular customer. I
f you buy two to three courses a year, it will save you money.
It’s also seeking to solve the missing link – The community.
- A place for all of us to gather and lift each other up. - Inspire us. - Give us a new way of looking at a problem.
The membership fees will help us invest in people and technology to bring this to life.
Will there be an app? Will we use Patreon? Will we hire a community manager just for this? Will there be regular ‘In real life’ meet-ups?
These are the questions, plus many more, we seek to answer over the next 12 months.

|
This is our year of Beta.
This is our year of learning.
Trying new ways. Listening hard to what works. Seeking and striving to go to the next level.
This Beta mindset is why I have decided to The DO Membership now.
- Before we are ready. - Before perfection. - To answer the need of a community that is not going away.
Will it be perfect? Heck no. Will it become an important place to lift spirits, to find inspiration, to think in a new, non-obvious way? Almost definitely.
For example: Before I launch my new writing course, ‘Micro-Blogs’, I will have done three live Beta workshops, one live online Beta workshop and finished a book on Micro-Blogs, which the wisdom of the crowd gave me feedback on BEFORE it goes to print.
Why do all this?
We want our online courses to give you clarity and certainty when you take that one big scary step forward.
So NOW, we improve them before we launch.
This is Beta life.
And let’s remember what success is:
- In charge of your time. - You run your business, not your business running you. - Not worrying about money.
Know the enemy: Busy.
We must get better at looking after ourselves.
Let’s build this community.
