Issue 302 - Optimus goes for a walk

Cybertruck

908 Cybertruck VINs active 📷
Every time Tesla produces a Cybertruck or any other vehicle, they must register a VIN with NHTSA. This allows us to see how many have been built so far, although this includes those for showrooms and other purposes. Another interesting point is that 93.7% of them are dual-motor. Thanks to Mike from Cyberowners for sharing and explaining this!

Cybertruck in Shanghai 📷
The Cybertruck is generating as much expectation in China as it is in the USA.

Experience towing with the Cybertruck 📷
Craig Coker, whom you might remember for setting the EV record at Laguna Seca, used the Cybertruck to tow 'Dark Helmet' to the track and shared his experience afterward. He highlighted how they easily passed every trailer, including other cars. He was positively surprised by both its range and utility. You can read more details of his experience in the tweet.

Tesla semi proves capability with over 1,000 miles driven in a day
The Tesla Semi, an electric freight truck, has demonstrated exceptional capability by traveling more than 1,000 miles in a single day. PepsiCo, operating about 21 Tesla Semis at its Sacramento center, confirmed this efficiency in real-world use and independent testing. Each Semi can cover 500 miles on a single charge, with drivers expressing greater satisfaction with the electric truck compared to their diesel counterparts. It's great to see this performance, and I hope Tesla can produce more and that other companies adopt them as well.

Tesla's new compact crossover production set for June 2025
Tesla plans to start producing a new compact crossover, possibly the $25,000 car Elon Musk previously teased, in June 2025. Codenamed 'Redwood,' this vehicle is part of Tesla's strategy to compete in the affordable electric vehicle market, particularly against Chinese automaker BYD. Musk's past promises about vehicle pricing, however, suggest cautious optimism regarding the actual cost at launch.

New Model 3

New Tesla Model 3 excels in 70 mph range test
Dan from What's Inside? conducted a range test of the new Model 3 Long Range. Charged to 100%, the Model 3 Long Range displayed an estimated 333 miles. Dan tested it at 70mph and managed to travel 327 miles before the battery indicator showed 0%. This result is an impressive 98% of the predicted range and 95.8% of the EPA range of 341 miles. This performance is particularly noteworthy considering that EPA range is calculated under optimal conditions, while in this test, the temperature was a bit lower, between 50 and 60°F.

New Model 3 - Adaptive High Beam (Update 2024.2) 📹
Really impressive video of the adaptive high beams in the new Model 3. It's worth checking out! I'm sure other owners with matrix headlights are now waiting for a software update that brings the same functionality to their car, assuming they can operate in this way.

Optimus

Optimus goes for a walk ... 📹
I love watching new videos of Optimus; the rate of progress is amazing. In a recent video posted by Elon Musk, we can see Optimus walking in a more natural and agile manner than before.

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • EPA: Environmental Protection Agency
  • EV: Electric Vehicle
  • NHTSA: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
  • VIN: Vehicle Identification Number
