There is a reason that those who have found their authentic selves after much introspection stop following the crowd.

Once you are in a situation where you must pull yourself back, that forces you to find your voice, and as you discover who you are, you become more perceptive and, at the same time, disgusted.

What disgusts you? You see how so many people want to keep up with the Joneses. They want to be like everyone else and do everything possible to fit in.

While you focus on doing what you can to care for yourself and your family, you have little patience for everyone else as you live your truth.

Everyone else is so worried about keeping up with the latest fashion trends while you focus on dressing for comfort (and of course, you do want to be clean and presentable, but who cares about the latest fashion trends?).

Everyone else is concerned about getting the latest gadget to show off, while you only care about having functional gadgets.

That means if you have one that is several years old and still works well, like an iPhone 12 mini, that is good enough for you.

Everyone else wants to ensure they can attend some big gatherings on the weekend because that is the “cool” thing to do (it is scary how many people have not outgrown high school) while you crave a peaceful weekend at home.

You see that everyone else is a superficial clone of sheep while you shake your head at them.

You have found your truth after going through a lot of introspection for whatever reason, and you can’t understand what scares others from doing that.

You don’t understand why they must keep following the crowd because you found that is not the way to go after doing some self-reflection.

These people want to keep showing off to impress others, but you don’t care! You don’t have anyone to impress. You know life is much deeper than that.

Does Everyone Go Through Times Of Introspection?

I cannot make a blanket statement and say either way. Life is not easy, but for some, it is much harder than it is for others.

And even those who mostly coast by in life will go through periods of introspection because no one is immune from hardship.

However, even if they do, it does not mean they have changed, so they will keep following the crowd, especially if they are superficial and always part of the “cool” crowd.

However, I do know that epiphanies can happen to anyone. That is why I cannot generalize.

However, for those such as myself who were never meant to be part of the “cool” crowd since birth, I would say that introspection happens more frequently and will eventually help you find your truth.

I never fit in, as I was always an outcast. I was bullied for it. It scarred me. I have C-PSTD and depression.

Once upon a time, I was desperate to fit in and became a people-pleaser and an echoist. I craved the approval of others. It is human nature to do so. I was willing to put up with further abuse for it.

There came a time when I said enough was enough and to fuck fitting in and fuck pleasing everyone. If people don’t like me, that is not my problem.

I know that would not have happened if I had not been an outcast, a loner, always being with others.

I take care of myself and those important to me. I do what I please and don’t care if others approve.

Now that I have uncovered all of that, let’s see how the Hermit relates to other cards esoterically.

The Esoteric Relationships Between the Hermit and Other Cards

The first connection to the Hermit is the Magician, as Mercury rules both cards as the Magician has creative power. Still, the Hermit knows how to use that creative power to achieve spiritual enlightenment.

The Magician uses that creative power externally, and the Hermit uses it internally.

There is also an indirect connection between the Hermit and Lovers, as Mercury rules both cards.

When you make a choice or a commitment, you must reflect, which is where the Hermit comes in. And when you have made that commitment or choice, you may have to pull back to reflect on it.

There is also an indirect connection between the Hermit and the Moon, as the Hermit comes to nine when it comes to numerology, and the Moon is 18/9.

They both have an indirect connection to mystery themes, as both cards mean you can delve within to get answers.

The Moon is about trusting your intuition and looking within to see what could be hidden, requiring you to quieten your mind and pull back from society.

Since Virgo rules the Hermit, there are three Minor Arcana cards indirectly connected, which are the Eight of Pentacles (Sun in Virgo), Nine of Pentacles (Mercury in Virgo), and Ten of Pentacles (Venus in Virgo).

Think about when you have to work hard at something, as you have to pull back so you can work at accomplishing that skill, as shown by the Eight of Pentacles.

And if you have worked hard enough, you get rewarded, as shown by the Nine of Pentacles. And finally, if you have done very well with it, you have a lot of wealth to give, as shown by the Ten of Pentacles.
