workos.com Sponsor

WorkOS enables B2B SaaS companies to accelerate enterprise adoption with identity management and complex features like Single Sign-On, SCIM, and User Management. Built for developers tired of using legacy providers like Auth0, WorkOS delivers a unified platform with modern APIs and a predictable pricing model that will scale seamlessly with your enterprise motion.

Jco 1.0: JavaScript toolchain for WebAssembly Components

bytecodealliance.org @yosh@toot.yosh.is github.com/bytecodealliance

“Jco can natively run Wasm Components inside of Node.js, making it easy to take libraries written in different programming languages and execute them using the Node.js runtime. And by implementing the entirety of the WASI 0.2 API surface, those components can access the network, filesystem, and other system APIs available in the Node.js runtime.”

Upcoming features:

  • Support for browsers (available experimentally)
  • Compiling JavaScript to WebAssembly (available experimentally)
  • Support for WebAssembly registries (planned)

deno compile compiles a Deno project into a single binary executable. Supported platforms are Windows x64, macOS x64, macOS ARM and Linux x64.

Node.js 2023 year in an article

blog.rafaelgss.dev github.com/RafaelGSS

“Node.js is rapidly evolving, and it can be challenging for regular users to stay updated with the latest changes. Even as someone who works on the project, it’s possible to overlook certain commits. Therefore, this article aims to spotlight major changes and discussions occurring within the Node.js landscape in 2023.”

ESLint’s 2023 year in review

eslint.org @nzakas@fosstodon.org @eslint@fosstodon.org

“The plan for 2023 centered around our first major release since 2021, ESLint v9.0.0. Most of the year was spent preparing for the release, building out the new configuration system (flat config) and communicating the impact to the ecosystem throughout the year.”
