How I’ve been thinking about building a $100M+ holding company

I'll let you in to my current thinking on building products that outperform.

The best products don’t win. The products with the most distribution don’t always win.

The products with the best nerds do.

Imagine a world where every software product can be cloned by AI. We’re getting close to that.

Everyone will be a “programmer” in that sense. Click a couple buttons and boom, duplicated internet powered business. And it isn’t just software.

On-demand design. On-demand content. On-demand everything.

So, in order to stand out you need some "sauce". Something that makes you stand out.

You need to see something others don’t. 3D vision when everyone is stuck on 2D.

“Nerds” are the answers. Those passionate souls who eat, sleep, and breathe their obsessions.

A nerd is someone who loves what they do so much, they inspire others to care about it too

Nerds have insights no AI can touch. They’re the game-changers.

And nerds are not exclusive to consumer businesses. There are plenty of B2B nerds. Probably even more valuable.

When I look back to the businesses that worked with us, it always began with a nerd. Being a nerd means you have an unfair advantage.

Sometimes I’ll be the nerd, sometimes someone else.

But always begins with a content insight and a product insight that’s being ignored.

The insight leads the way to getting the details right. And contrary to popular belief the details matter. In a landscape drowning in sameness, nerds are your lighthouse.

So the question is: how can we systematically harness this nerd essence, this unique insight, to not just stand out, but to build something of lasting value?

This is where the blueprint for multipreneurship comes into play. Build multiple products, multiple companies, multiple operators, multiple nerds.

I believe this will be a more and more common way to create businesses.

The multipreneur blueprint phase #1:

1. Find a nerd or be the nerd to get insights. This step is non-negotiable.
2. Create a niche internet audience to gain attention. Using the nerd gold to captivate.
3. Convert to a community (IRL, digital) to get email addresses. This is about reducing dependencies on social platforms and building a garden of nerds.
4. Ideate startup ideas with community to get validation. This is about getting buy-in and ideas for your new product.

Once you hit $100k/profit per year or more, that's when you earn the right to start thinking about it.

Multipreneurship blueprint phase #2

1. Put systems, process and AI to gain operational excellence. This step builds leverage.
2. Hire yourself out of your role to gain the space to think about new ideas. Critical so you can create a portfolio of businesses, and not just one.
3. Find more nerds to gain more insights (or be the nerd yourself).

Bill Gates famously said:

I’d take it a step further, Billy...
