I spotted Kelela at a Meshell Ndegeocello concert last year and was too shy to say hi. Mostly because I couldn’t think of anything more interesting to say than “OMG Kelela my dog LOVES your work!” (we’re listening to Sage’s favorite album, Take Me Apart, as I type). Her music has this indescribable, ethereal quality that feels larger than life and the fashions follow. I cannot and will not get over the Mary J. Blige-coded wiggy wig she wore for her Tiny Desk concert. Fingers crossed it makes an another appearance before PFW ends.
