Here’s a reader-submitted question from last week: Are we sure that people who live on Social Security and do not file tax returns will receive a check?

Answer: The IRS says yes. According to the official website, Social Security, Social Security Disability Insurance and Railroad Retirement recipients don’t need to do anything to get the relief money. The government says it will use info from Form SSA-1099 and Form RRB-1099 “to generate Economic Impact Payments of $1,200 to these individuals even if they did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.” Straight from the horse’s mouth.
