🎨 OpenAI VP Sidesteps Question on Artist Compensation for AI Training Data

French startup Nijta, specializing in AI-powered speech anonymization technology, aims to address voice privacy concerns, particularly under Europe's stringent GDPR regulations. Founded by Brij Srivastava in Lille, France, Nijta has secured €2 million in funding to provide solutions for enterprises needing to anonymize voice data for compliance and privacy. The technology finds applications in various sectors, including call centers handling health data and educational technology involving children's voices. Nijta's product ensures irreversible voice protection, marking a significant step towards safeguarding personal information in AI use cases. With a team of seven and plans for expansion, Nijta is exploring broader applications, including real-time anonymization for secure communication, and aims to tackle the challenges of becoming multilingual to serve global markets.

🚫 Midjourney Bans Stability AI Staff After Outage Blamed on Data Scraping

Midjourney has banned all Stability AI employees from its service, attributing a significant service outage to data scraping efforts by individuals linked to Stability AI. The incident, which Midjourney described as "botnet-like activity" from two paid accounts associated with Stability AI's data team, led to a near 24-hour disruption. In response, Midjourney announced a policy to indefinitely ban employees from any company engaging in aggressive automation practices that cause outages. Stability AI's CEO, Emad Mostaque, expressed confusion over the allegations, suggesting any actions causing the outage were not intentional and denying it was a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.
