Gil’s success with Checkout Blocks

This month, Gil posted this on X 👇

For those who don’t know Gil, he’s a Shopify App developer building CheckoutBlocks to help merchants improve their checkout.

And he announced that he onboarded 50 Shopify Plus brands in a single week!

When many people are struggling to even get 1 Shopify Plus brand per month.

So what’s the secret?

The problem is that there is no secret. And many people will be disappointed.

Gil has been posting on X and LinkedIn for years, building in public, sharing new features, and talking to brands.

He had an app before that but it didn’t work that much. He struggled and yet he kept working on his objective.

And there is something called the compounding effect.

If you didn’t know Gil, you might have discovered him with this impression post and thought: What an overnight success!

But that’s not the case.

Gil’s plan was simple, but not easy:

What makes the difference here is the last part: do it consistently for years.

What is the Wide Event?

It’s a Shopify partner meetup in Paris (English event) for all the ecosystem's participants: merchants, developers, and agencies.

It’s a place where you can literally find partners, friends, customers, and co-founders for your business.

For a Shopify App Founder, you might find a new user there or a new partner with the Shopify agencies coming to that event.

The only point is that you have to talk to as many people as possible to know what they do!

When is it?

Our next edition is on May 27, in Paris.

What can I expect?

We’ll prepare 4 business talks from experts so you can learn a few things.

And you don’t want to miss these speakers 👀

You’ll also have time to eat some French petits-fours and wine while talking to other attendees.

In-person Shopify events are back!

Shopify had announced that they stopped in-person events to host only online events.

It was a way for them to bring more partners together while reducing costs.

But partners didn’t really like it. Seeing people in person is different and better.

It seems Shopify went back on this decision because I received this email 👀

If you didn’t receive it yet you should probably wait a little bit more.

But the most important is: We’re going to see each other at an official Shopify event again!

They also renamed the event and it’s now the first Editions.dev event!
