Have you ever heard the story of the tortoise and the hare? 🐢 🐇 

The hare had mocked the tortoise for his slow pace, so the tortoise challenged him to a race. Naturally faster, the hare ran immediately out of sight after the race began.

Overconfident in his lead, he decided to take a nap, allowing the tortoise to slowly advance past him. By the time he woke up, the tortoise was already crossing the finish line. No matter how fast he ran, he could not beat the tortoise and win the race. 

It's a great story, but what does it have to do with affiliate marketing?

Everything.

See, in the world of affiliate marketing, there are two ideas regarding the best way to make money: paid traffic and free traffic.

Paid traffic is a lot like the hare. It's so much faster than free traffic, but it comes with its own faults. You have to constantly pour money into expanding your reach, which creates a harsh cycle of chasing sales to recoup your investments. 

On the other hand, free traffic is like the tortoise and his steady progress. It's slower, but it allows affiliates to keep 100% of their profits without needing to continuously reinvest their money.

Affiliate marketing isn't a race to make the most money, but if it was, the affiliates using free traffic would come out on top.

Why? Because affiliate marketing is about how much profit you keep, not how many sales you make.
