Welcome to my regular roundup of happenings around the world, which now lists rolling workshops and courses at the end.

You can opt in/out of these emails here, and share your own events and exhibitions for inclusion here.

For more control over your email settings, and to support the work that goes into BLAG, become a paid member today with plans from $5/month.

BLAG Events

Our next two BLAG Chats are almost here, and I'm looking forward to hearing about Chris Campe's adventures in animated letters and Amy Goodwin's stories of the fairground artists.

As always, these are online, free (tips welcome), and with the opportunity to ask the contributors questions.

BLAG Member Meetups

In addition to the sessions this Friday to introduce the BLAG Forum, I've set up a member-only meetup on 5 June where you can put your questions to Mark Josling at Spectrum Signs. Mark has over 35 years' experience on the brush, so this is the perfect opportunity to ask an expert about anything to do with the craft and business of sign painting.

Spectrum Signs' Mark Josling on the brush for Coy! Communications. Join us and bring your questions for Mark on 5 June. Registration is via bl.ag/events.

Event Recordings

I'm gradually posting recordings from BLAG Meet: Inside Issue 04, and there are more recordings from past BLAG Events here.

Letterheads & Gatherings

The wait for a big Letterheads meet in North America is over with the Peace Farm Panel Jam coming to Spring Green, Wisconsin, in August.

The Peace Farm Panel Jam in Spring Green, Wisconsin, 9–11 August.

Berlin Letters in July has representation of the craft with workshops from Pascale Arpin and Gustavo Ferrari, and registrations are now open for the Society of Gilders Conference in August and this year's New Zealand Letterheads in October.

If you just want to hang out with like-minded folk, then there's a 'sample sale and merch drop' at London's Luminor Sign Co. on 27 April, YANAM's Seaport MuralFest in New York over 23/24 April, and events in Paris and Brussels to launch the new Publi Fluor book.

Talks & Tours

On Wednesday, 17 April, the latest in the current series of online and in-person Letter Exchange events is happening, with Jamie Clarke giving a talk titled 'Led by letters – circular creativity in type and lettering'.

Led by letters – circular creativity in type and lettering, online and in-person (London) event with Jamie Clarke at Letter Exchange, 17 April.

Also on 17 April, Olivia Trimble is giving a talk online for the Arkansas Folklife Web Series, and for those in Cincinnati, head to the American Sign Museum for the unveiling of their new mural, and a look at placemaking with artist Matt Dayler.

The School of Traditional Arts has an online session on Getting the Most Out of Your Vintage Drafting Set on 1 May and, for Letterform Archive members, there are two 'This Just In' events; in-person in San Francisco on 24 April, and online on 8 May.

If you prefer to enjoy your lettering al fresco, then there's a ghost signs tour in Philadelphia on 4 May and a lettering walk with Paul Shaw in New York on 16 May. And, as always, the Ghostsigns Walking Tours are available on-demand to experience remotely or on the streets of London.

Exhibitions

Stephen O'Neill's Safari Tipográfico is on in Jerez, Spain, until 2 May.

Workshops & Courses

Tomorrow, 16 April, is the deadline to enroll on this year's Lettering Seminar with Martina Flor.

If you want to learn the craft of sign painting, then be sure to read the extended feature at bl.ag/learn and get yourself a copy of Sign Painting. For gilding, Gold Leaf Techniques is recommended.

The following are then people and places that offer regular workshops and courses to help you find one near you.

That's a wrap for this latest worldwide events roundup; back for more in May.

All good things, Sam
