EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. I am only just starting to recover from my "Tortured Poets Department" listen, and while I figure out how I feel, here’s a primer on the biggest surprises from Ms. Swift’s latest (double) album, a thread that encapsulates some of the mixed reviews, and what actual poets had to say. And, before you ask, these are the songs that supposedly reference Travis Kelce (here’s who else got a mention). Other things that got my attention this week: Caitlin Clark’s impeccable red carpet style, the viral new job listing for (of all things) a Lauren Sánchez reporter, the Spice Girls reunion at Victoria Beckham's birthday, and Red Lobster’s looming bankruptcy — all because of bottomless shrimp. Bad day to be an Olive Garden exec.

✨ The latest trend in workplace dressing? Adding sequins. They go perfectly with these very questionable New Balance loafers.

💉 Since Botox apparently isn’t working like it used to, “mini facelifts” are on the rise…

💪 The headline to unite America: “Stop Filming Yourself at the Gym Already.” Louder, for the influencers in the back.

🙃 It was already a no-good, very bad year for recalls (see: Boeing), and then: PepsiCo recalled a zero-sugar drink because it’s, surprise, surprise, full of sugar.

🥤 The anti-aging people are coming for your straws — doesn’t matter if they’re plastic, paper, or metal.

I can't look away.

Picture the grossest apartment a male date or friend ever brought you back to. Why are they like this? That’s the question Brooklyn-based comedian Rachel Coster explores in her new, instantly viral video series, called “Boy Room.” In it, she tours and investigates the apartments of 20-something men — which are just as filthy, perplexing, and unhinged as you’d expect. Yes, there are the random dirty dishes, curtainless windows, and basic metal bed frames. But there’s also a guy who appears to keep his clothes in moving boxes, despite the fact that his drawers are basically empty. Another decorates with random bikes he’s working on…and not in a cool, creative way. And a third framed and hung his old rat tail on his wall (certainly not in a cool, creative way).

It’s the type of thing that we’ve all probably seen some version of (by the way, you can nominate “Boy Room” candidates here), yet it’s still oddly mesmerizing. That probably explains why the series — perfectly described as “a quasi–nature documentary” — already has millions of views and thousands of comments. While many commenters recount their own horrifying boy room encounters, some point out that it’s not just men who are messy. “Could Girl Car be a spinoff?” one Instagram user asked, which, fair. Others chime in with decorating advice — something Coster also does at the end of each episode. TBD if the boys behind the rooms are taking it.

Need a new show.

True crime fans, take note: “The Jinx,” one of the genre’s most infamous docuseries, returns tonight on HBO and Max for a second season — nine years after its debut. The original series delved into the life of New York real estate heir Robert Durst and his suspected involvement in three unsolved murders. For those who tuned in the first time, you’ll remember the nail-biting, almost hard-to-believe finale (complete with an apparent on-camera confession). “The Jinx - Part Two” provides a window into the final chapter of Durst’s story — during which, he was convicted of murder before dying behind bars in 2022. And, if the trailer is any indication, the new season has more shocking footage (including Durst’s attempt to flee the US) and bombshell revelations in store. Talk about access.

Help, I'm so old...

Another week, another dating term that TikTok users are rediscovering. This week’s lesson is all about “limerence.” Definitionally (read: according to psychologists), limerence is a: “state of involuntary obsession with another person.” When it comes to dating, it’s basically one-part anxious attachment style, one-part “Romeo and Juliet,” star-crossed delusion. If the concept sounds familiar, that’s because it is — just see any women’s magazine story ever about the “honeymoon phase.” People who say they’ve experienced limerence compare it to a drug-like rush or emotional roller coaster. Psychologists are still debating how common limerence actually is, but considering #limerence videos rack up millions of views on TikTok, we’d bet it’s on par with ghosting.

Why do celebs do weird sh*t to their houses?

On Tuesday, Architectural Digest released the latest video in its “Open Door” series, featuring Emma Roberts and her “grown-up dollhouse.” It started innocently enough (think: lots of warm tones, stripes, and vintage-chic decor), but things took a turn when the “Scream Queens” star started proudly showing off “the doll wall,” including “drunk cowgirl” Barbie, Leggy Jill, and Blythe. The internet was freaked out by the collection of “dollykins,” with the obvious question being: Why??? We don’t have an answer (Roberts says she hopes every night “they’ll come wake her”), but it’s just the latest example of a celeb doing something wild with their home. See: Kim Kardashian’s famously bizarre sinks, Gigi Hadid’s pasta cabinets, Bradley Cooper’s bedroom/bathroom, Sheryl Crow’s chapel, Cara Delevingne’s “vagina tunnel,” and, of course, who could forget Barbra Steisand’s basement-turned-tiny-mall?

What are the dumplings we like again?

MìLà Frozen Soup Dumplings

Consider this your PSA that freezer food isn’t what it used to be. These soup dumplings from MìLà genuinely taste as fresh as what you’d get at a Chinese restaurant, and they take about under 15 minutes to make. They’re currently available in four flavors, but one of our vegan editors got her hands on the forthcoming vegan version (which you can preorder here), and she had to double-check the ingredients list to make sure it didn’t contain any actual pork. When you order online, you can also choose to add a bamboo steamer basket, a dipping bowl, and a trio of sauces for the full takeout-but-better experience. Pro tip: These are also great as a last-minute lunch or dinner along with whatever veggies you have in the fridge (or, yes, your freezer) and some rice.
