I always see the question… I just can’t seem to gain discipline, how come? Or how do people become disciplined?

The problem with most people and discipline is that they try and go from 0-100 right away… Only to ultimately give up.

If muscles aren’t used, their strength will steadily go down as we age. The same goes for discipline. If we don’t practice discipline, our ability to become disciplined goes down.

When you look at it like this, there’s no surprised that you can’t go from watching instagram reels all day to having a strict work, self development, and exercise routine…

It doesn’t work like that…

Here’s what I suggest (and what has worked for me).

Test how long you could concentrate on a single task for…

Choose a task that you’ve been looking to do and see how long you could maintain focus.

Set a timer and see how long it takes for you to want to give in to outside temptations. However long that it is- that’s your baseline. From there, you can start building. Each day, aim to increase the time you can focus on the task by rjust a few minutes.

You wouldn’t expect to hit the gym for the first time and bench 500 pounds so you shouldn’t expect to start building your discipline by being the most disciplined in the room.

Many people make it much more complicated than it is.. Start like this and if you’re willing to start slow, you will build up to where you want to be.
