Enter: manual choppers, a somewhat recent TikTok sensation. The gadgets are essentially a box with a grate on top that you slam food through, designed to make meal prep a breeze. We gave this new generation of vegetable choppers a whirl, and after testing 16 of the most highly reviewed ones, we can’t wholeheartedly recommend any of them. As staff writer Mace Dent Johnson puts it: “There is no one-size-fits-all tool to save us from the Sisyphean task of meal prep.”

A manual kitchen tool we do love: this peanut butter hand mixer.
