Flow State - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross
Welcome back to Flow State. We share interesting instrumental music every weekday. You’re on the free tier. The paid tier gets you the daily Spotify playlist, unlocks the Tuesday mix, and keeps us going. You can upgrade to paid here. Good morning. It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, film composers from Pennsylvania and London respectively. Reznor started Nine Inch Nails in Cleveland in 1988 and linked up with Ross in 2002 while working on a side project called Tapeworm.¹ The pair ventured into film scoring together with David Fincher’s The Social Network in 2011, for which they won an Oscar. Their new score for the movie Challengers is almost entirely stripped-down techno, at times sounding like a Social Network remix album (in a good way). Many of the tracks end abruptly, as if to say that the buildup is the only thing that matters. There’s also a remixed version of the album by Boys Noize which is more distorted and is mixed as a continuous 30-minute set. Challengers - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (40m, some vocals on tracks 3, 7, 13, and 16) Challengers [MIXED] by Boys Noize - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (30m, some vocals on a couple tracks) Have a splendid weekend. |
