I did not realize this, but apparently BBC podcasts in the U.K. are ad-free. Apparently some people think adding ads to them would be a complete disaster.
Castro (one of the podcast listening apps I recommend) has posted an update on the state of the app since its new owners came on board.
Edison research has released their Q1 rankings for the top 50 podcasts in the U.S.
Pretty useful data point for podcasters: Spotify has added a consumption hours statistic for podcasters to see how long people are listening to their podcasts for.
Looks like Sonos has made a bit of a boo boo in their latest app update, making podcast listening … more challenging.
Pocket Casts have released a new browser extension that lets you do one-click podcast subscriptions.
Edison research have also released a new report U.S. podcast listeners titled: The Podcast Consumer 2024. Lots of stats to consume, such as the fact that 67% of the U.S. population aged 12 and over have ever listened to a podcast, and since 2014 the average time spent listening to podcasts has gone up by 450%.
