A proposal to put at least 30 digital kiosks along sidewalks in downtown Seattle — to increase community engagement, wayfinding and more — was met with a mix of enthusiasm and concern during a Design Commission meeting. Public safety officials argued that the IKE Smart City kiosks would aid first responders. Others expressed apprehension over the bright displays as potential light polluters that would further clutter Seattle’s urban landscape with unwanted advertising. Read more.
