My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three kitchen utensils.

These days, I find it hard to believe that I used to ignore the kitchen. Before I lived on my own, the only reason I would be in the kitchen was to grab snacks, take a serving of whatever my mom cooked, or, on rare occasions, bake. I simply did not make anything beyond a box of mac and cheese. Even when I went through a phase of thinking I wanted to be a chef, I did not spend time in the kitchen. I loved food but I didn’t bother with being the one to make it.

As an adult, however, I love cooking. I don’t mind complicated recipes or making do with substitutions. I always want to try new flavors. It’s amazing what you can whip up with a few simple ingredients and tools. I’ve already covered what few unitaskers I keep on hand, but what about the regular favorites? Some kitchen utensils are simply indispensable. These are the items I use almost every day. At this point, I’m not sure I could function in the kitchen without them.
