More Than 30 Dems Now Want Biden Out

The Biden campaign remained firm on Friday, rejecting reports of President Biden's potential withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race despite an increasing number of congressional Democrats calling for him to step down.

According to a running list compiled by NBC News, more than 30 Democrats have publicly called for Biden to drop out of the race since Texas Representative Lloyd Doggett first called for a new nominee on July 2. See the full list here.

Even state-level Democrats have expressed desire for new leadership. Seven Massachusetts state senators have lost faith in Biden, saying a new nominee would “inject badly needed excitement and grassroots energy into the party.”

The DNC doesn’t seem convinced. The party’s nominating committee met Friday and reaffirmed plans to virtually nominate Biden in the coming weeks.

CrowdStrike Error Causes Global Internet Outage

An error in the antivirus software update from cyber-security firm CrowdStrike on Friday caused a worldwide internet outage, affecting healthcare services, businesses, and airlines, with many connected devices showing blue error screens.

Hospitals across the U.S., Canada and England were affected by the disruption, leaving many facilities unable to perform scheduled procedures or access records and scheduling software.

Communication and computer problems also hit the airline industry. American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines issued ground stops for all their flights early on Friday. Before operations resumed over 2,400 flights were canceled and more than 7,600 delays occurred.

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz expressed deep regret for the global disruption and emphasized that it was not a cyberattack but rather an isolated update error.
