The best clothing steamer

A good clothing steamer can de-rumple creased, tired-looking clothes in minutes—without the hassle of dragging out an ironing board. But it’s also a handy tool to sneak into a suitcase (summer wedding season, anyone?), de-wrinkle curtains and drapes, and smooth out upholstery.

We’ve tested dozens of clothing steamers since 2016. Our top pick melts wrinkles with ease and doesn’t spit out water (a rarity).

What not to get: The viral Nori Press

Photo: Zoe Vanderweide

We’ll be the first to admit it: The self-proclaimed “Internet’s Favorite Iron” is unusually attractive for a laundry aid. But that’s about all it brings to the table. While it purportedly combines the portability and convenience of a steamer with the pressing prowess of a traditional iron, in reality, it pales in comparison to both.

One last (laundry) thing: “I wrote this article about a drying rack I hate”

It’s unstable. It’s awkward and heavy. It’s not particularly space-saving. Need we go on?
