Friday was supposed to be my lazy morning since I didn't have kiddo duty and it was a WFH day. Instead, it turned into leak clean-up and detection.

Our condo has a recurrent leak that happens when there is a lot of wind-driven rain. The remnants of Hurricane Debby started hitting us Thursday night. I woke up to find quite the puddle in our living room. The water always seems to bubble up from the beneath our floorboards... and we're on the second floor. The source of the intrusion has always eluded us and our building engineer.

After I cleaned up the puddle I left to get a necessary cup of coffee. When I came back, the puddle had started again BUT I spotted a drip from under a piece of molding that houses our thru-the-wall HVAC unit.

AHA!

I quickly cobbled together a catchment system using tin foil, painter's tape, and some rimmed cookie sheets.

We still have no idea how the water is getting in on the outside of the building, but at least we can trap what is coming inside.

I’ve only a managed a few chapters this week in Girls of Storm and Shadow. The author took us to a new place and I want it to exist in real life. Her scene descriptions and development make it sound like a lovely place. Very high fantasy with a heavy mix of Game of Thrones TV series vibes.

• Still nothing but the Olympics in our household. But, because of the kiddo, we tried some new stuff. She was weirdly invested in the equestrian show jumping. [Peacock]

• We brought back and oldie but a goodie this week: sheet pan sausage with green beans. Since we like a bit more flavor, I always toss on a pint or two of quartered mushrooms. We also serve this with crescent rolls. Or, as the kiddo calls them, second rolls. [wonkywonderful]

• The husband remembered we had a half pound of ground chorizo in the freezer. That led me to make chorizo and zucchini tacos because I knew we'd get some sort of squash in this week's farm share. I also love that it gave me the excuse to pickle some red onion. [Real Simple via My Evernote]

My brother went to Paris for the Olympics and keeps sending gorgeous pictures like this one to the family text group. I’m not jealous…

The other week, I was randomly thinking about the Voynich Manuscript. Then, this week, The Atlantic shared an article about it (*may be paywalled). It was in that article I learned Yale released an online, hi-res scan of the manuscript. It’s a fun thing to flip through.

We start moving into our new library tomorrow! SQUUEEEEEE!!! Then I get to figure out where the heck I packed everything…
