Azure Weekly - Power BI Weekly #272 - 20th August 2024
Power BI Weekly Newsletter Issue #272
powered by endjin
Welcome to the 272nd edition of Power BI Weekly! Just a single announcement this week, which is that the Admin monitoring workspace is now available in US government cloud tenants (GCC, GCC High, DoD) - great news if that is relevant to you! On the community side this week, Kurt Buhler has written an intricate blog describing how to Highlight a data point and comparing to all others in a distribution using Jitter Plots, an effective way to make a small number of data points stand-out compared to a bunch of categories. Then, two other blogs that fit quite nicely together this week: Chris Webb has investigated Which Columns Are Loaded Into Memory When In Power BI Direct Lake Mode?, and Teo Lachev has written about Memory Utilization with Interactive Operations in Direct Lake - both useful reads if you're wanting to understand the behaviour of Direct Lake memory management (especially crucial for large semantic models!).
