This week, we’re looking at the top three school supplies I miss. Our kiddo started kindergarten this week. Her transition made me long for the days of going to school myself. I loved school! (Still love it.) I loved learning and making friends. I loved my teachers and visiting classrooms. I loved textbooks and worksheets. Weirdly, I didn’t even mind homework. Most of all, I loved the school supplies. At the end of every summer, I would accompany my mom to some office supply stores to stock up for the coming year. Those trips were always joyous. As my kiddo enters her elementary years, things have changed. I still love school supplies but trips to the store seem to be a thing of the past. At our school, we can order all the supplies we need through a vendor. If we do that, it even acts as a school fundraiser. Instead of walking the aisles, checking off a list, I simply clicked “buy kindergarten pack.” Everything she needed showed up at our door in one box. Since our kindergarten intermingles all the kids supplies, we just dropped everything off in one bag on the first day. While this process was highly convenient, I miss the tradition of buying supplies as a family. Next year, when she gets to keep a few of her supplies, we’re hitting up the store. Every kid should get to decide which backpack or crayon pack is the perfect one for them. Unlock this post for free, courtesy of Meghan Kowalski.A subscription gets you:
