Man Arrested for Planned Attack on NY Jews

Canadian authorities have arrested a 20-year-old Pakistani national for a planned mass shooting of Jews in Brooklyn. Shahzeb Jadoon was detained Wednesday in Quebec.

He planned the shooting on behalf of the Islamic State for October 7 to mark the first anniversary of the Hamas attacks in Israel.

Canadian law enforcement stopped Jadoon 12 miles from the U.S. border. Two undercover officers had been communicating with the suspect since late 2023 after he distributed ISIS propaganda, and they were tipped off to the planned attack.

Starliner Returns to Earth Unmanned

Boeing’s Starliner successfully returned unmanned to Earth Friday. The spacecraft delivered astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the International Space Station in June, but due to issues on Boeing’s first crewed test flight, NASA determined it should return to Earth without its crew.

NASA commissioned a SpaceX craft to bring the astronauts home in February. Their mission was initially planned to last about eight days.

A livestream of the landing in New Mexico seemed to indicate Starliner returned without a hitch.

List: Countries That Drink the Most Beer

Europeans dominate the world in beer consumption per capita, according to a study of 2022 data. Czechia tops the list for the 30th consecutive year, consuming 188.5 liters of beer per capita—almost 90 liters more than Austria, at number two.

The average Czech drinks more than one bottle of beer daily.

The top nine countries are all in Europe, with the African nation of Namibia claiming the tenth spot. The U.S. comes in at 31, and incidentally, Americans rank European beers as their favorites.
