Today we’re listening to Alejandro Cohen, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Los Angeles by way of Buenos Aires. We discovered his music via Philip Sherburne’s Futurism Restated newsletter. On his new album, Chamber of Tears, Cohen blends tender acoustic guitar with cosmic synths, similar to Corntuth or North Americans. We can’t improve much upon the liner notes, which describe the record’s affects as “high-minded melancholy, platonic playfulness, and sardonic sweetness.” We’re also playing one of two volumes of his Library Music Series. Cohen is the executive director of LA’s Dublab, where he has a regular radio show.
