A better way to watch the Walz-Vance debate
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance will debate next Tuesday, October 1, at 9 PM Eastern on CBS News. It is the only Vice Presidential debate and is shaping up to be one of the last critical events of the presidential campaign. Your traditional options for watching the debate are not great:
On Tuesday, Popular Information will offer another option. We'll provide live, real-time fact-checking, analysis, and commentary throughout the 90-minute debate. Like the Popular Information newsletter, everything we post will be meticulously factual, but we will never engage in false equivalence or performative objectivity. The chat will also be informed by my professional experience with presidential debates over the last two decades — including my role in debate preparation and strategy for more than two dozen presidential debates during Hillary Clinton's 2008 campaign. You will be empowered to share your reactions and engage with other thoughtful Popular Information readers. The chat will be accessible via the Substack app or on the web. And while Popular Information's newsletter is freely available to everyone, our chat during the presidential debate will be available exclusively to paid subscribers. You can join in by upgrading your subscription. As a special incentive, we are offering 20% off the subscription price for the next 24 hours. A discounted subscription ($4.80/month or $40/year) will not only get you access to the presidential debate chat and future exclusive events, but you will also support the groundbreaking accountability journalism that Popular Information produces each week. We are also rolling out another new benefit for paid subscribers. We focus our newsletter on topics where we can add value. But, during hours of research, we encounter many other important stories. Starting Monday, each day we publish the newsletter, we will also share three of the best stories we have identified from across the internet with paid subscribers. (Like the chat, these links will be available to paid subscribers on the web or via the Substack app.) If you have any questions, please let us know by emailing chat@popularinformation.substack.com. Best, Judd Note: Due to spam issues, replies to this newsletter are not monitored. You can reach Judd Legum by creating a new email and sending it directly to judd@popularinformation.substack.com. |
