Our favorite throw blankets

A good throw blanket is nothing short of a daily workhorse—whether it’s accenting your home decor, keeping you warm during a horror-movie marathon, shape-shifting into a fort, or being draped around your shoulders as you putter from couch to fridge and back. And as the weather cools down, it’s finally time to pull ’em out.

Over the past four years, we’ve spent more than 100 hours researching dozens and testing nearly 60 of the best throw blankets. In the end, we came away with 11 favorites—including a cozy fleece number, a super-soft cashmere-wool blended one, and a breezy cotton throw.

If you’re heading into a weekend of pumpkin carving, we have a few tips and tricks that can help your jack-o’-lantern last for as long as possible. For starters? Don’t carve the hole at the top—keeping the stem intact is crucial to preserving its structure. Instead, cut from the bottom or the backside.

But first, give your pumpkin … a bath?→
