Good Morning! On this day in 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt issued a proclamation officially admitting Oklahoma as the 46th state, over 100 years after the land was acquired from France in the Louisiana Purchase.

Speaking of Oklahoma, it got its Sooner State nickname from the Land Run of 1889. During this event, people known as Sooners illegally entered the Oklahoma Territory to claim land before the official start time. Ethics Committee Delays Vote on Rep. Gaetz

The House Ethics Committee canceled its Friday meeting, postponing a vote on releasing the long-awaited report on Rep. Matt Gaetz, despite growing calls to disclose the investigation's findings.

Gaetz, who survived a Justice Department investigation on allegations of sex trafficking and obstruction of justice, was also the subject of a three Ethics Committee review. Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing, and no charges were filed.

House Speaker Mike Johnson urged the committee to keep the investigation sealed despite outside political pressure, stating it would be a “breach of protocol and tradition.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan echoed Speaker Mike Johnson's stance earlier this week, stating that, under committee rules, the report on Rep. Matt Gaetz should not be made public.

Confirmed: Iranian Nuclear Facility Destroyed

U.S. and Israeli officials have confirmed Friday that Israel’s attack on Iran in October destroyed an active top secret nuclear weapons research facility, damaging Iran’s nuclear weapons research program, putting pressure on Iran and Hezbollah.

Friday’s news coincided with a series of Israeli airstrikes in Beirut that destroyed at least one high-rise building in a Hezbollah-controlled area. You can see the building collapse here.

Lebanon’s prime minister has asked Iran to help broker a cease-fire in the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah war, as Israel has intensified its attacks on Hezbollah since September.

According to Lebanese media, U.S. Ambassador Lisa Johnson presented a cease-fire proposal to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, who has been representing Hezbollah in the negotiations.

House Holds UFO Hearing

House lawmakers heard testimony this week from witnesses alleging that the federal government has decades' worth of information on UFOs that remains undisclosed.

A former Pentagon official testified before the House Oversight Committee's subcommittee, claiming that the U.S. possesses alien technology and that military installations have been surveilled by "advanced technologies not made by our government — or any other government."

Another former Pentagon official claimed the U.S. has been aware of extraterrestrial activity since the 1930s and misappropriating funds to fund a secret program, stating that "excessive secrecy has led to grave misdeeds against loyal civil servants, military personnel and the public — all to hide the fact that we are not alone in the cosmos."

A former NASA administrator urged the space agency to take a more active role in documenting unidentified phenomena, suggesting it use advanced equipment instead of relying on cellphone footage and fighter jets' cockpit gun cameras.
