Ludicrous amounts of wealth were on display this week as Justin Sun, founder of Tron, purchased a art piece that consisted of a banana duct-taped to a wall for over $6 million dollars and then proceded to eat it! I imagine there will be plenty of memecoins created around this event over the coming days.

But when we aren’t wondering at the absurdity of spending millions of dollars for one banana, we’re playing games. Here are some of our top stories from this past week in blockchain gaming!

We’ve been waiting for crypto gaming tokens to show some life, and this week SAND, the token from The Sandbox was happy to oblige us. The token’s value surged over 100% earlier this week, pushing the market cap of this virtual universe over $1.5 billion. The token value has dropped a little since then, but it is still looking strong and may surge again in the markets continue to rally.

The Sandbox is currently in alpha season 4, offering tons of rewards for players, and the interest in land plots, and The Sandbox in general, has shown a significant increase lately. With a ton of big name projects already on board and an ever increasing number of user built experiences, The Sandbox is a force in the web3 gaming space and will remain so for the forseeable future.

Capybara to the moon?

BARA, the token for Capybara Nation, one of the early movers in the Telegram gaming space, has also shown significant growth after their initial airdrop.

With over 4 million players, it seemed like the token airdrop may follow that of HMSTR, which left many players dissappointed. But BARA certainly didn’t disappoint, shooting up over 400% within days of the release.

With a staking program already in place, BARA may be able to shake the doldrums that we see after many token launches. And this is certainly a positive sign for Telegram games, token launches, and web3 gaming in general!
