​Why I Let AI Grade My Writing (Just Like My AP English Teacher)​

Ten years ago, I hired an editor to grade my blog posts as an AP English teacher might. Yesterday, I asked an AI to do the same thing.

The verdict? A solid B-.

Reading the feedback triggered two emotions : nostalgia for Mr. Dunn’s legendary red pen in AP English & a thrill for concrete feedback to strengthen the piece.

Back & forth, I iterated with Claude, until I ground the piece to an A-. Still not perfection, but a reminder that clear writing demands relentless revision and an openness to criticism – lessons Mr. Dunn taught me long ago.
