3. VPN/ad blocker combo for iOS: $2K MRR, 10K—100K users, $45K asking price.

Jimmy Rose grew his SaaS company Content Snare to $300K ARR, but then growth plateaued:

"Everything seemed fine. Churn wasn’t too bad, we were getting loads of amazing feedback, and our site got plenty of traffic... but, somehow, we just weren't growing."

The breakthrough came when he found a new industry to serve: Accounting. Since then, the company has grown to $1M ARR and beyond.

I worked with Patrick at Stripe for years after they acquired Indie Hackers (we’ve been independent since 2023 though), and he was excellent at finding ways to do things faster.

My favorite tactic is, when you’re faced with a plan of some sort, to simply ask, “How we could do this 10x faster?” There’s almost always some obvious way to do it. Usually it requires sacrificing something you really want but don’t actually need. But it’s worth it for the time you’ll save. That’s time you can spend on things you want even more.

And since it takes time to spend money, the additional benefit of saving time is you’ll likely be saving money, too.
