The Lever - It’s Lever Time!

It’s been a big year for our flagship podcast Lever Time. Since the show relaunched in April, Lever Time has experienced tremendous growth, notching a million total downloads and racking up numerous accolades. 

Throughout the 2024 election cycle, Lever Time remained ahead of the pack when it came to illuminating the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the presidential election. In one episode, senior podcast producer Arjun Singh unpacked working-class discontent with the Democratic Party — a subject that felt prescient when many working-class voters voted for Donald Trump in November. 

Over the last eight months, Lever Time has also aired deeply reported stories on the issues everyone else left unmentioned, from efforts to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for climate change-related deaths to the corporate roots of the government’s vast surveillance network to how financialization has made Hollywood afraid of political art. 

Today, the Lever Time team is taking a break, but for new listeners, we wanted to share an episode you may not have heard. In June, during the NBA finals, Arjun looked into the relationship between sports gambling firms and the NBA. He explored the history of online sports betting, lobbying efforts to legalize gambling, and the public health consequences of having one of the world’s most prominent sports leagues investing in major sports betting apps.

As we look ahead to 2025, we want to thank our listeners and subscribers. This show is not possible without you.
