Elon Musk has embarked on an unconstitutional rampage across the federal government.

The world’s wealthiest man is shutting down key agencies and programs that protect the health, welfare, and prosperity of millions of Americans. He has implemented mass layoffs, silenced federal agencies, and accessed massive amounts of confidential government data.

And that’s just what has been reported so far.

Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency team are conducting their operations without even a pretense of transparency or congressional oversight, so we likely are only seeing the very tip of the iceberg.

The Intercept is digging deep to uncover what Musk and his DOGE minions are doing, whether it’s unlawful, and how it will affect everyday Americans. It’s one of the most consequential investigative reporting challenges we’ve ever faced, and we need a significant influx of resources to fund this vital reporting effort.

Will you donate $5 to help fund our investigations of Elon Musk and DOGE?

We’ve never seen someone with so many apparent conflicts of interest exercise such sweeping power in the U.S. government.

Tesla could benefit greatly from changes to electric vehicle incentives. SpaceX has received nearly $20 billion in government contracts, and the privately held company is now the most valuable startup in the world. Musk reportedly owns 42 percent of SpaceX.

And several of the agencies that have seen significant staff cuts by DOGE — including the Justice Department, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and National Labor Relations Board — were actively pursuing investigations, lawsuits, or regulatory actions against one or more of his companies.

The potential for corruption is absolutely mind-boggling.

We’re committed to exposing the facts about Musk’s sweeping government takeover, but getting to the truth will require a huge amount of staff time and resources, and we’re counting on your help.
