AD PRO - How to Land a Celebrity Client

It was the most-asked question in yesterday’s AD PRO LIVE segment, in which senior design editor Hannah Martin sat down with Gregory Rockwell and Hester Hodde, the designers behind supermodel Paloma Elsesser’s Brooklyn abode, at AD’s office in New York. “Go to the party. Go to that dinner. Be your effervescent self and meet people and establish yourself in the place where you choose to live,” said Rockwell. “You can’t go out and find a celebrity client. Have a good sense of yourself and a strong design point of view, and the clients will come to you if you work really hard and don’t quit.”

In addition to their sage professional advice, the creatives shared the renovation stories and design references that shaped Elsesser’s Milanese-inspired town house, which graced the cover of AD’s February issue. “It was a four-year project, and we worked in a bit of a bubble,” added Hodde. “So to take a step back and hear people say nice things has been really rewarding.”
