Microsoft quantum breakthrough promises to usher in the next era of computing in ‘years, not decades’

Microsoft says it has developed a breakthrough quantum processor based on a new state of matter, giving the company a clear path to achieve quantum computing’s long-term potential of solving some of the world’s most difficult problems. It also promises to give the company a competitive edge over Google, IBM, and others in the field. “It is a moment we've been dreaming about for a long time,” said Microsoft's Chetan Nayak, in an interview with GeekWire.
