The Recommendation

February 17, 2025

Today we’re talking about our favorite bedside lamps. Plus: magical luggage, how to clean your greasy kitchen cabinets, and a great deal on our favorite luxurious pillow.

This very pretty bedside lamp we love is on sale right now

The Loftie Lamp set on top of a beside table next to a sleeping eye-mask and clock.

Any old table lamp will cover your most basic illumination needs, but a good bedside lamp does much more than that. It should help you seamlessly settle in for sleep, gently illuminate the room when you wake up in the dark, and be stable enough to withstand any wayward pillows in the middle of the night.

This very pretty smart lamp checks all of those boxes. It has a wide range of lighting options, from a soft glow for pre-sleep reading time to a bright white for regular nighttime use: folding laundry, making the bed, dance parties, what have you.

But where this lamp really shines? You can customize it with your favorite colors, like purple-pink sunset gradients. (Lovely.) And it doubles as a sunrise alarm clock—waking you up by slowly filling your room with light.

It’s on sale right now for $55 (!) off→

Today’s dreamiest deals

NYT Wirecutter, Garnet Hill
  • The most expensive, luxurious pillow we recommend: If you toss and turn as you sleep, consider this cloud-like pillow. It’s comfortable, offers firm support, and has a nice, moldable feel. Use promo code WCPILLOW to get a standard, firm one for $80 off. Get the deal here→
  • Luxurious towels for spa vibes: Every time home decor expert Daniela Gorny has a guest stay over, they inevitably ask about her textured lattice towels, which are lighter, drape better, and dry faster than any terry towel we’ve tried. They’re on sale right now
  • A bedroom-wall makeover for commitment-phobes: Peel-and-stick removable wallpaper can quickly transform any space. We like this lightweight, fabric-based option, because it’s easy to install and has crisp prints in a variety of fun styles. Use promo codes FREESHIP and WIRECUTTER20 to save. Here’s the deal→
  • A duvet cover that comes in the most stylish prints we’ve seen: It’s rare to come across a duvet cover that comes in cute, modern prints. But this one does—and its soft and comfortable percale fabric feels pleasantly cool and crisp, like nice hotel bedding. Use promo code WC27 to save. Get the deal here→

One last thing: 50(ish) splurge-worthy Wirecutter picks to upgrade your bedroom

An alarm clock, a lamp and a blanket on an orange and tan background

Our favorite investment pieces to jazz up your bedroom include a boutique-hotel style bed frame, chic storage bins, and luxe blackout curtains.

Plus: Our experts say this (currently on-sale!) alarm clock is so minimalist, it can “fool you into thinking you’re waking up of your own accord every morning.” Nice.
