Feature | The Best Visualizations from February on Voronoi 🏆

About a year ago, we launched Voronoi, our free new data discovery app.

Believe it or not, there are already more data-driven visuals on Voronoi than on Visual Capitalist (which has been around for 13 years!).

Every day there’s something new on Voronoi to see. And in aggregate, there are nearly 4,000 data stories to explore on the platform from nearly 120 world-class creators.

Let’s see what captivated users in February.

We’ll take look at some of the best of Voronoi over the last month, including a creator worth profiling, a top “Editor’s Pick” visual, and also the most popular, most commented on, and most timely posts.

  POPULAR CREATOR

Harrison Schell

Visual Capitalist is just one of many creators on Voronoi.

In fact, the data storytelling platform has many world-class creators with insightful visualizations, including Harrison Schell.

Harrison has published nine visuals on Voronoi so far, with some of them getting high praise from users, especially through our “Visual of the Year” mechanic. Here are some of the topics covered by Harrison so far:

  • The average scroll of a social media user visualized
  • The current generation of humanoid robots
  • The size of LLMs (large language models)
  • World energy consumption by source

Follow Harrison to get more of these fantastic visuals in the future.

How Much U.S. States Rely on Imports from Canada, Mexico, and China

When President Trump announced new tariffs at the beginning of February, it took the global news cycle by storm.

This nifty map from Visual Capitalist quickly helped Voronoi users understand how the tariffs could impact both the U.S. and the nations it trades with.

It can be hard to digest news on the spot and without context, but maps like this can help people understand what’s going on in the world. Not surprisingly, this was also one of our most viewed posts of the month.

Global Trade Dominance: U.S. vs. China (2000 & 2024)

There are two 800-pound gorillas in the realm of global trade.

In one corner, you have the defending champion, the United States. In the other is the up-and-comer China.

This visualization from economist Ehsan Soltani compares the two superpowers from a trade perspective, over the course of two and half decades.

See which gorilla reigns supreme, in his visualization.

  MOST DISCUSSED

Tesla’s European Sales Have Fallen 50% 📉

Business leaders, by default, tend to be apolitical or only mildly political.

The reason is simple: when you skew too much to one side, you risk alienating a wide swath of potential consumers on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Our most discussed visualization in February came from Visual Capitalist and it shows how Tesla’s sales in Europe have fallen in early 2025 compared to the previous year.

Users discussed if the sales drop was from growing European distaste of Elon Musk and Tesla, and backed it up with anecdotal evidence. Others noted they still expect Tesla’s stock to boom.

  EDITOR'S PICK

Water Stress in 2050

Water is an incredibly precious resource.

And as the world expands its population to a peak of around 10.4 billion people in the coming decades, it will continue to be a crucial factor that determines whether humans flourish or struggle to survive.

This visual from Rosey Eason shows expected water stress levels in 2050 around the globe.

With many countries facing drought-like conditions, especially in Southern Africa, the Middle East, and several other countries (Chile, Spain, India, etc.), water stress will continue to be an important story to watch.
