Violent Tornadoes Pound South

Violent tornadoes killed at least 20 people and decimated homes in the Mississippi Valley and Deep South on Saturday. The death toll is expected to rise.

Hundreds of thousands of people were without power across the region, and 10 million are under a "tornado watch" from Tennessee to Louisiana. Photos of the tornado damage can be seen here.

The federal Storm Prediction Center issued the rare “high risk” designation on Saturday, an indication that “numerous intense and long-tracked tornadoes” were expected.

U.S., Iraq Kill ISIS Leader

U.S. Central Command and the Iraqi prime minister announced on Friday that they killed the head of the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria in a targeted operation.

CENTCOM reported in a social media post that Abu Khadija was killed in a "precision airstrike" Thursday in Iraq's Al Anbar Province. A second ISIS operative was also killed in the strike.

Abu Khadija served as ISIS second-in-command and chief of global operations. He was identified through a DNA match from evidence collected on a previous raid where the terrorist narrowly escaped, officials said.

SpaceX Launches Mission to Return Astronauts

The replacements for NASA’s two stuck astronauts launched for the International Space Station on Friday night, with a scheduled arrival set for late Saturday night.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida carrying four astronauts who will replace Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been in orbit for nine months now.

Problems with the Boeing Starliner's propulsion system during their initial flight made it to risky to fly home on the craft.

There will be a two-day handover before the old crew are due to begin their journey back to Earth. That would put them on course for a splashdown off the Florida coast late next week.
