Making $12k/mo & Spending 50k/mo - Behind the Failed “Evernote for Rental”

đź‘‹ Hey Failories! It's Nico over here.

This week, I had a ton of time to work on the project, so I'll be sharing some of the things I've done below.

Before it, I've published one new interview with a failed startup in the rental business and a complete re-write of a guide (+8,000 words!) on how to start a startup in India.

Making $12k/mo & Spending 50k/mo - Behind the Failed “Evernote for Rental”

Steven was co-founder at Rent Nest, an app that allowed users to collect and share information on houses to rent. They raised some money from friends and were soon accepted on a startup accelerator. Throughout two years, the startup grew to $12k/mo, but they were spending +$40k/mo, which led them to eventually running out of funds and shutting down.

How to start a startup in India

Hope you enjoy this week's stuff ❤️

As promised, here are some things that happened this week:

  • Hired a content agency that will be writing 12-15 articles (long ones, around 3,000 words) related to entrepreneurship and startups.
  • Hired a freelancer who will be writing 5 pieces of content (mainly research ones) on some failure-related topics.
  • Hired a VA to help me with some simple tasks related to our Startup Cemetery and the interviews.
  • Carried out an automated Pinterest strategy for all of the existing content on the site. I did it using a tool called Placid. I'll be sharing the results in the upcoming weeks and months.
  • Prepared all the content for a new /tools page that's coming and replacing the existing Entrepreneurial Lists.
  • Got a new infographic for our "Startup Failure Rate" article, which I'll be publishing and sharing soon.
  • I'm about to hire two more writer freelancers: one will take care of a new project that's coming; the second will be writing some software review articles.

Let me know if you have any questions!
