Tesla dating app created for owners are obsessed with Elon Musk - Business Insider - Business Insider

Article
  • Tesla stans, rejoice - there may soon be a dating app where you can pursue like-minded car owners who are also obsessed with their electric vehicles and CEO Elon Musk.
  • An app called Tesla Dating is currently in the works, made exclusively for verified Tesla owners.
  • The app's set-up is akin to that of Tinder or Bumble, except the only people that appear on the app are fellow Tesla cult followers.
  • The app is the work of Ajitpal Grewal, a self-described "Ecommerce entrepreneur" and Tesla stan living in Canada.
  • Grewal told Business Insider he decided to create the app after realizing Tesla owners only wanted to talk about one thing: how much they love their Teslas.
  • Grewal's app idea capitalizes on the loyal following built up around Tesla and Musk, its CEO. Tesla owners are known for making sure everyone else knows they own - and unequivocally love - one of the electric vehicles, the cheapest model of which starts at $38,000.
  • To make a profile on the Tesla Dating app, users will be required to verify they actually own a Tesla, Grewal said.

Delta will keep blocking some aircraft seats through early January to calm travelers nervous about virus - CNBC

Article
  • Delta Air Lines will continue to limit the number of passengers it allows on each flight through early January in an effort to win over potential customers worried about flying during the coronavirus pandemic, the carrier said Thursday.
  • Delta had previously said it will limit capacity to 60% of of its main cabin through the end of September.
  • After that it will raise that limit to 75% of its main cabin, blocking some middle seats, and continue blocking some middle seats through "At least" through Jan. 6.
  • It said it would reevaluate the capacity limits at the end of October.
  • Carriers, facing weak demand as concerns about the virus keep many travelers home, have scrambled to find ways to convince customers that flying during the pandemic is safe.
  • Airlines have each required that passengers wear masks on board and have threatened to deny future service to travelers who don't comply.
  • They have also increased aircraft cleaning and put up physical barriers in some of their airport facilities.

DoorDash launches grocery delivery to compete with Amazon and Instacart - The Verge

Article
  • DoorDash is ramping up its on-demand delivery efforts with the launch of grocery delivery, starting with select chains in markets throughout California and parts of the Midwest.
  • Key to DoorDash's ambitions in grocery delivery are its backend delivery platform, called DoorDash Drive, that it sells to existing chains to help power their own delivery systems, as well as the company's promise of delivery windows as short as its standard meal order ones.
  • DoorDash Drive allows chain restaurants and grocery stores to create their own delivery systems, and the company says it's using the same underlying technology to bring grocery stores' large inventories over to its main app.
  • DoorDash also wants customers to think of these orders like takeout instead of standard Amazon Fresh and Instacart-style delivery that typically happens in windows of scheduled time.
  • "More than 10,000 grocery items, from dairy and eggs to local produce to fresh meat and fish, will be available for delivery from participating grocery stores in less than one hour."
  • To help get the new service off the ground, DoorDash is even enrolling grocery delivery into its DashPass subscription service, which means those who pay the $9.99 monthly fee can get free delivery.
  • DoorDash is already the leading meal delivery platform in the US, beating out GrubHub and UberEats thanks mostly to its large footprint across the country and the number of restaurants and other stores its brought onto the platform.

Airbnb has confidentially filed to go public – TechCrunch

Article
  • The move puts the home-sharing service on a path to a public offering sooner rather than later, and comes after reports that the company was prepping an IPO filing this month.
  • Those same reports indicated that Airbnb could go public as soon as the end of the year.
  • The company promised in 2019 that it would go public in 2020, but that pledge seemed far-off in the middle of the year.
  • If Airbnb has filed, we can presume that present results are good enough to get it life, else the firm would have not filed and would have simply gone public later.
  • The question now becomes if its Q2 numbers were good enough to get it out the door, or if the company intends to update its S-1 filing with Q3 numbers, push the filing live and go public with more recovery time in its results.
  • Of course, such a course of action would put its public debut perilously close to the American election.
  • Now the question becomes whether Airbnb intends to go public in an IPO, as the wording of its filing appears to suggest, or if a direct listing could still be in the cards.
