Fortune - The all-new 40 Under 40 is out now
![]() It’s been a year of monumental change.
To reflect this wave of transformation, we decided that we needed to embrace change in this year’s 40 Under 40. We needed to go bigger—and to search more widely. Just one list of 40 emerging leaders wouldn’t be enough. This year highlighted 40 influential people in each of following categories: finance, technology, healthcare, government and policy, and media and entertainment.
You’ll find the old favorites, C-suite executives, startup founders, and congresspeople, but the lists also feature people doing much of the work that has been crucial to 2020: a science communicator, an athlete standing up for racial equality, and the executive director of an organization that helps women run for office, to name a few.
