Navigating Online Meeting Culture | Combatting Remote-Work Burnout | The Best Boss Qualities

Hi Forbes Careers readers,

While non-stop Zoom calls found me fatigued back in May, I think I’m getting a second wind. Starved for some good, old fashioned human interaction, I’ve been jumping at the chance to change out of my sweatpants and put on makeup. Unfortunately for the friendly face on the other end of the Zoom call, I have
a tendency to overshare about my life, family, apartment and anything else that pops into my mind—prompted or unprompted.

Don’t get me wrong, relatability is important in a business setting. But when you tell a personal story, how can you make sure you don't end up crossing the line? Of course, it’s important to not come across as an emotionless robot either. In fact, working from home during the pandemic has made business less robotic and more human. Here’s why it may, or may not, stay that way. Regardless, it’s clear that company culture is struggling significantly right now. Sustain yours by avoiding these myths and misconceptions.

Until next week,

Kristin

P.S. In August, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kat Taylor just months after her husband Tom Steyer dropped out of the Democratic presidential race. As CEO of Beneficial State Bank and cofounder of impact investing firm Radicle Impact, Taylor took a unique approach to doing good business while also doing good for the planet. Here’s how she’s using capitalism’s toolbox to fight systemic racism, environmental destruction and economic inequality.
