Product Hunt Guide
Product Hunt is still a great place to launch a product; however, you only have one chance to do it correctly. Demand Curve wrote this great guide on how to launch your product on Product Hunt through interviewing some of the most successful launches.
If you’re about to launch your product, I suggest reading the whole guide. Here are a few points that stuck out for me:

  • Don’t launch before you have a small following
  • Quality of engagement > Likes
  • Find a reputable hunter within PH and ask them to hunt your product.
Early Employees
Here are some tips on being an early employee at a startup from Pete who was employee #15 at Airtable. TLDR:

  • Understand why you are doing it (learning, deep exposure, ownership).
  • Acquire full stack skills
  • Building > Operating
  • Do whatever the company needs, startups are a team effort.
Software is Eating Markets
An intriguing post by Packy McCormick about the rise of retail participation in financial markets. Just as angel investors are mostly about social status (not necessarily financial returns), public market investing is also investing for experience & entertainment and valuing assets differently as a result.
He also includes a brief market map looking at the various companies within the stock trading space, alternative assets, venture investments, and crypto space.
Is This Profitable?
A post by Elena Burger looking at the shifts in consumer viewing patterns of content, most notably onto Netflix.
Two things stuck out to me. 1) Time is the ultimate measure of success (not number of viewers) and all of these video companies want to dominate as much of your time as possible.
2) Netflix redefined a view from 70% of an episode to watching the first two minutes of an episode. Get prepared for a seismic shift in the battle for consumer’s time as our consumption span decreases in time (hello TikTok).
