Dear Reader—

In a year with more opportunity and cause for reflection than ever before, and in this season in which we turn our reflections to gratitude and community, I want to offer my sincere thanks to you, Reader, for making space in your life for poetry.

Thank you for being a member of the Academy of American Poets’s community.

As an offering to you, and as a token of my appreciation this #GivingTuesday, I hope you’ll join me in reading United States Poet Laureate Joy Harjo’s “kitchen table” poem—“Perhaps the World Ends Here”.

We recently welcomed Joy Harjo as the host of a special reading last Tuesday called Gather in Poems, for which she offered this poem. I’ve included the recording of that reading below, which I hope you’ll enjoy.
