Poem-a-Day - Opening more doorways for poetry

Dear Reader,

During this challenging year, as U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo recently said, “Poetry has provided doorways for joy, grief, and understanding.”

At the Academy of American Poets, we’ve been humbled these past many months to share poems that offer comfort and prompt compassion with a readership that has grown to number more than a quarter million—more readers than any other poetry publication.

But Poem-a-Day is only possible because of contributions from devoted readers like you. This December, we must raise at least $100,000 in to sustain and grow this one-of-a-kind, free series. Please, if you can, take a moment and help support Poem-a-Day.

If you give today, your impact will be doubled thanks to an anonymous donor who has pledged to match all the gifts we receive up to $10,000, dollar for dollar.

The “doorways” poetry provides lead us to inspiration, new ideas and experiences, and to language that transports us, bringing meaning to our lives.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting Poem-a-Day.

Gratefully,
Jennifer Benka
Executive Director
P.S. This month, we need to raise at least $100,000 to sustain and grow Poem-a-Day. Contributions of any amount help support this meaningful program. In special appreciation of all gifts over $50, we'll send a Poem-a-Day wall calendar, featuring lines by the poets who will serve as series editors in 2021.
