The Intercept - Here’s what worries me:

Even as Biden is busy reappointing some of the architects of Obama’s worst policies, we’re suddenly experiencing a fundraising shortfall.

If you believe all of America’s problems are Donald Trump’s fault, you can probably delete this email and go get ready to uncork some champagne.

As The Intercept’s D.C. bureau chief, I can tell you firsthand how much of the media and political establishment is ready to take a victory lap — and give Joe Biden a honeymoon.

In our newsroom, we’ve always believed that good journalism makes powerful enemies. That’s why we spent the Obama years exposing dystopian surveillance schemes and drone wars.

I’m proud of how The Intercept has consistently reported stories that the political and corporate elite don’t want told. But now we’re facing a new problem.

Even as Biden is busy reappointing some of the architects of Barack Obama’s worst policies, we’re suddenly experiencing a fundraising shortfall.

I know this has been a hard year for everyone. If you’ve lost your job or are facing other financial challenges, we don’t expect you to give us a dime.

But next year, I don’t want any of our reporters to hesitate for a moment about whether we have the financial, legal, or security resources to take on anyone in the Biden administration (or their corporate benefactors).

So if you’re in a position to give before this midnight deadline, we’re counting on your support. Stand with The Intercept:

Thank you,

Ryan Grim
D.C. Bureau Chief
