TVL (Total Value Locked) is viewed as the rule of thumb for evaluating DeFi projects - but should it? 

TVL is a representation of the total amount of money deposited into individual DeFi applications. This has become the standard metric for assessing the success and growth of DeFi projects.

But TVL as it stands is often double counting liquidity across protocols, thereby inflating reported values.
