Opportunity 2: QLess (Level 2 - Indie Hacker)

This opportunity could be considered a micro-SaaS, but since it does require both a mobile app and a web app component, I decided to bump it up one level of difficulty.

This opportunity is all about a relatively new software market - the waitlist market.

QLess is a major player in virtual waitlists - software that allows users to queue in line without having to stand in line physically.

This market is unique because it has blown up due to COVID.

For this opportunity, we'll look at how a down-market bootstrapper could make a play for a waitlist service targeted specifically at appointment-based service businesses, what the MVP would look like, and two channels that make the most sense for reaching new customers for this opportunity.

Opportunity 3: NordVPN (Level 3 - Bootstrapper)

For the first time EVER, Software Ideas is diving into the b2c space!

This opportunity was pretty unique, and I considered not even writing about it. Besides being b2c, the down-market opportunity is actually adjacent to the VPN market, not directly inside of it.

But this opportunity seems like so much fun to run with that I couldn't help but share it.

We'll start by looking at NordVPN, getting an understanding of the VPN market and the competition. Then, we'll look at one particular use-case that VPNs are used for - fighting against price discrimination on travel and eCommerce websites.

From there, we'll talk about how a technically-minded bootstrapper could build a proxy service aimed at fighting against price discrimination on the internet, helping customers find the best deals online.

We'll talk about what a proof-of-concept for this product would look like as well as the resulting MVP, and dive into exactly what distribution channels are likely to work in 2021 for a solution like this.

We'll also explore exactly what price discrimination is, how surprisingly frequent it has become, and how you can take the charge in fighting against these ethically gray practices.
